Men's Yoga Compression Shorts, Studio-Specific Compression Handcrafted in LA

Yoga compression shorts need to compress through 360 degrees of movement: deep hip openers, wide-legged folds, inversions, and arm balances where standard athletic compression creates resistance. Worn as a standalone short or as an underlayer beneath looser styles. Browse the full shorts range in our men's yoga shorts collection.

Why Compression for Yoga

Muscle support through dynamic movement. Compression fabric supports the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes through transitions and held poses, reducing micro-fatigue in longer practices. This is particularly useful in Ashtanga and power yoga where the same muscle groups are engaged repeatedly across a full session.

No chafing in wide-stance poses. The close-fit compression cut eliminates fabric shifting in warrior poses, wide-legged folds, and any stance where loose shorts create friction along the inner thigh. For practitioners who experience chafing with standard shorts, compression is the practical solution.

Stays exactly where you put it. Unlike standard yoga shorts, which can shift during transitions, a compression short stays anchored to the body through every movement sequence. This makes them particularly effective for practitioners who dislike the feel of adjusting clothing mid-class.

As an underlayer. Worn beneath Solid Transition Yoga Shorts or Fusion Yoga Shorts, compression shorts add a layer of support and coverage while keeping the outer short looking clean and unrestricted.

For the most popular standalone studio short, see the Solid Transition Yoga Shorts. For short shorts with a 3-inch inseam, see men's short shorts.

What is the difference between yoga compression shorts and regular compression shorts?

Regular compression shorts are built for linear movement: running and cycling. Yoga compression shorts need to stretch in every direction simultaneously, including deep hip openers and wide-legged poses where conventional compression creates pulling and resistance. Our Modal compression shorts are cut and knitted specifically for this multi-directional movement without the restriction conventional compression fabric causes in yoga-specific positions.

Can yoga compression shorts be worn alone or only as an underlayer?

Both. As a standalone short they work for studio yoga, hot yoga, and gym training. As an underlayer beneath a looser short, they add support and coverage while keeping the outer short looking clean. Many practitioners buy two pairs: one for standalone use in hot yoga, one for underlayer use in standard studio practice.

Are yoga compression shorts suitable for hot yoga?

Yes. Modal fabric is naturally breathable and moisture-resistant, significantly outperforming synthetic compression fabric in heated conditions. The close-fit compression also reduces fabric movement that can make heated practice feel more uncomfortable with looser shorts.

Will compression shorts leave marks or feel restrictive after a long practice?

No. Our compression shorts use premium Modal rather than conventional synthetic compression fabric. Modal compresses without cutting in at the waistband or leaving fabric marks on the skin, even after a two-hour practice. The flat-seam construction also eliminates the pressure points that conventional compression shorts create along the inner thigh.

How do I size yoga compression shorts?

Size true to size for the intended compression fit. Size up one if you prefer less compression through the thigh while still maintaining a close, secure fit. Full measurements are on each product page. Contact us via the contact page for specific questions.
